LOVE. ACCEPTANCE. FORGIVENESS.

Our STory

How it all started...

Hodgenville is well-known for being the birthplace of President Abraham Lincoln. Family Worship Center is proud to be a part of the heritage within our community. In 1942, the Hodgenville Church of God was established. Since that time, we have undergone several changes. One change that occurred in the early 1990's was the addition of Family Worship Center to our name. We wanted to make sure that our community knew how important our church family was to us.

Expanding the vision...

Sonrise Ministry, Inc. & Sonrise Thrift Store, a part of Family Worship Center, officially opened in January 2020. We are so excited about this outreach ministry and how we can better serve our community!

OUR MISSION IS TO...
Put God’s love into action by demonstrating His hope
and love and building an atmosphere for a community of unity.

OUR PURPOSE IS TO...
Be God’s hands extended by helping those in need.

Family Worship Center and Sonrise Ministry endeavor to assist those who “fall through the cracks” by providing financial assistance for unexpected emergencies and to partner with other community-based agencies to encourage interagency collaboration, services and referrals. Our first step is to open the thrift store and concentrate on that part until it is sustainable. At that point, we will begin implementing our outreach program for LaRue County residents. We are not looking to duplicate services, but instead, our main focus will be to help those in emergency situations who are not eligible for help elsewhere.

Where we are headed...

In 2014, during a time of congregational prayer, we felt the Lord leading us to do something that simply did not make sense, but we were obedient and did it anyway! Family Worship Center purchased the iconic Sunrise Manor Nursing Facility that had been placed for sale after caring for the elderly and disabled for nearly half a century. The building, now over fifty years old, is slowly but surely being transformed into community outreach and ministry spaces.
